Farewell Letter

Vicar Mark Duer

3331 Summit Blvd. #160
Pensacola, FL. 32503

Dear Members of Immanuel Lutheran Church:

To my friends in Christ at Immanuel Lutheran Church. My vicarage is coming to an end, and I want to take a few minutes to reflect on my year of vicarage, and thank everyone for their support throughout the year. It has been an honor to serve here at Immanuel Lutheran Church, and the experience has been very valuable in preparing me for the ministry.

I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone here at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Everyone has been very supportive and helpful during my time of service here. I enjoyed all the activities that everyone has made me a part of during the year. I also enjoyed all the times everyone invited me to events, and invited me to your homes for socializing and dinner. I couldn’t ask for a better place than Pensacola for a vicarage, the great weather and friendly people make this an ideal place for a vicarage.

I appreciate the encouragement and the positive feedback over the course of the year that I received from everyone. Immanuel Lutheran Church is a great environment in which to learn and grow in as a vicar, and presents many opportunities for outreach and sharing the Gospel. The support of the vicarage program in general has been great here at Immanuel Lutheran Church, and your support has really been a blessing to me over the past year.

I am really blessed to have such a good vicarage church to work at during the year. I have learned much during the year under Pastor Steele, and I am very appreciative of all the opportunities that I was given during my vicarage. As a result I have grown in all areas as a vicar under his leadership. I am looking forward to my last year at the Seminary and attending classes once again. However, I am not looking forward to the freezing weather and the snow that comes with living in northeast Indiana.

I truly want to thank everyone again for your help and making my time on vicarage a joy. I can’t say enough about the generosity of everyone. I also want to thank you for your prayers and support. I hope for continued blessings and success for the congregation and the vicarage program here at Immanuel Lutheran Church. I hope I will have the opportunity in the near future to visit and see everyone again.

My last day in Pensacola is Sunday, July 20th. I hope everyone will attend the fish fry after the late service on Sunday to say goodbye. I want to wish everyone farewell and all my best. I will forward my address at Ft. Wayne, as soon as I know what it is. My Lincoln address is 2335 St. Thomas Dr, Lincoln, Nebraska, 68502.

Yours in Christ

Mark Duer
